Shakatan Boxers
|
I heard a lot about Boxers from an early age from my family, an uncle had come back from Germany with a big brindle male who had been a mascot while he was in the army (1959). When I was about eleven or twelve, I made friends with a local Boxer, and we were seldom parted. She grew on my family too, and so for Christmas 1970, I got my first Boxer.
I left home at eighteen to start my nursing career, and Suki continued living at home with Mum and Dad, and now two younger brothers. She died when she was ten years old with mammary cancer: the photo above was taken just days before we lost her. However the damage was done, and I needed a Boxer! As I was working I thought one was out of the question, I bought a Skye Terrier and loved her to pieces, she was a big dog in a small body, and we had her until she was eleven. |
