Detroit, Michigan

Women of the War Index

She formed camps and nursed wounded soldiers. They say that she wore a long sidesaddle skirt, and had two guns on the side of her belt. Annie also felt that she could give or show the men courage in battle. At the end of her three-year duty, she still wanted to do more. Mrs. Etheridge enlisted the veterans of the fifth Michigan and served until the war ended.
