| Harriet Beecher was the seventh child of a Protestant preacher. While she wrote novels, she is mostly known for Uncle Tom's Cabin. It centered on the topic of slavery, and was very controversial. She had experienced the issue of slavery, and the underground railroad. she also wrote poems, travel books, and children's books, as well as adult novels. She was first a student and then a teacher at Hartford Female Seminary. |
