| The Union made this hill into a good network of breastworks and prepared the place for imminent battle. To this day, those wooden fortifications can still be seen. Early on July 2nd, Union men were alerted to the presence Confederate General Johnson's division. Thus began two days of conflict over this tiny hill. |
