Close to the spot where this faded marker stands, Confederate General Longstreet set up his temporary headquarters on the second day of battle. Along Seminary Ridge north of here, and Warfield Ridge south of this location, his exhausted men, who had marched eighteen miles in the hot July sun, had been deployed.
