During the second and third day of the battle, southern troops found a stronghold on Seminary Ridge. The Lutheran Theological Seminary, after which the ridge was called, was about to have its baptism of fire. General Lee favored Seminary Ridge as a haven for sharpshooters who were aiming at the northern men on Cemetery Hill.
