| Arbor Day actually began in Nebraska in the early 1870s by a man interested in the agriculture of his nature state, Julius Morton. He became a master planter, encouraging others to beautify their own places by planting trees. It was Morton's idea to have a statewide day for tree planting, and it soon became a national concern. In 1970 the President chose April for National Arbor Day and placed it on the last Friday of the month. |
