Armed Forces Day

Holiday Index

At one time, the Navy, Army, and Air Force were each recognized on different days, but in 1949 the President voted to merge the three into an "Armed Forces Day." It was held in May on a Saturday, and after this the forces were collectively known as the Department of Defense. If you know someone in the Armed Forces or simply want to be patriotic, this is a good day to salute and make good on your patriotism.
