Australia Day is celebrated on January 26th and marks the date when the First Fleet, English sailors led by Captain Phillip, arrived in Australia's Sydney Cove. It was the late 18th century. It has since become a holiday, celebrated by civic functions, air shows, and other public displays. It is an important day to renew one's sense of belonging to their country. Fireworks are sometimes set off on Australia Day. Although it is important for many Australians to remember the day, others don't see it as having any particular importance.
