Contrary to popular belief, Boxing Day is not a holiday to watch copious amounts of the sport on television. No one is sure where the tradition originated or where it got its name; some think it comes from boxes given to young boys after Christmas when they went door-to-door to the homes of those who did business with their mentors. Others believe it commemmorates St. Stephen's Day, where churches finally opened the money for the poor. Still more think it might be called this because it is the day people exchange gifts they got for Christmas with something more to their liking.
