Good Friday commemorates the day that Jesus Christ was crucified on a Roman cross, two days before rising on Sunday. To Christians, Good Friday is a holy time to reflect on Jesus' sacrifice and read the story of the miraculous happening. In ancient times, "good" signified "holy," so "Good Friday" meant "Holy Friday." In the Catholic tradition, this is usually a day of frugal diet where only non-meat products are consumed. Hot cross buns are a Good Friday tradition, and some countries like Australia do not conduct business on this day.
