On this day, Martin Luther King Jr. is honored for his stand against racism. Martin was born in 1929. His grandfather was a Baptist minister, and Martin followed in his footsteps as co-pastor starting in 1960. He attended a seminary in Pennsylvania and later studied at Boston University. In 1955 he led a peaceful demonstration. Starting in the 1950's, he found himself heckled and his home destroyed, but still he kept up his stance for equal rights. In the 1960s he constructed the famous "I Have a Dream" speech that still speaks to the world. This revolutionary man was killed in April 1968 in Memphis.
