Situated around the dates of presidents Washington's and Lincoln's birthdays, President's Day is considered by some to be patriotic celebration. A change in calendars moved up Washington's birthday from February 11th to the 22nd in the late 18th century. This holiday was originally marked with robust merriment, and when Abraham Lincoln's birthday, also in February, was later added to the mix, the holiday was known as President's Day to honor both great men. Separately, Lincoln's birthday was first marked in 1865.
