Canada celebrates its own Thanksgiving, seperate from the traditions of North America. The Old World ancestors of present-day Canadians celebrated the harvest of fall and passed on these celebrations to their Canadian offspring. When certains folks from America decided to move North, they still wanted to celebrated the Thanksgiving of their English ancestors, so in part, Canada's Thanksgiving originated in America. However, Canada chose to honor the day of Thanksgiving on November 6th, and it became a national holiday in that country.
