Fort Frederica

Fort Frederica was established in the early 1700's as England's outpost in wild Georgia. Begun as a military base, when the threat of invasion dissipated, the fort withered and turned to ruins. Now, what is left of Fort Frederica can be seen on a walking tour, as well as the remains of Frederica, the colonial British town. An old British cemetery is part of the walking tour, and there's an extensive visitor's center covering history of the area.
