St. Simons Island, Georgia, was a tropical paradise to the Native Americans hundreds of years ago before being discovered by modern tourist moguls. The small but beautiful island is now home to a shopping strip, pier, 19th century lighthouse, remains of the old British fort Frederica, and much more. The sight of the Spanish massacre at Bloody Marsh Battle Site and the old Christ Church are not to be missed.
